Madelynn De La Rosa

Today, I am super excited to bring one of my favourite internet creators on to the blog. Madelynn from the youtube LaMadelynn. I'm honestly not too sure when I first stumbled into Maddie's videos but I can tell you that I quickly fell in love. She is honestly the sweetest human I've ever come across and her videos are just so damn real. Which is something I greatly appreciate in this internet landscape we are living in. What can you find on her youtube channel? Well-made vlogs documenting her life, thoughtout fashion films, cruelty free makeup videos and there are some vegan recipes among those too! Honestly, she's an all rounder. And if you're not subscribed, you are missing out. Lets hear from the babe herself, La Madelynn!

Ok. Lets start with the most important question: if you were a flavour of vegan icecream (personality wise) what would you be?

Can you tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do.

My name is Madelynn, I’m currently living in LA, and I make YouTube videos for a living.

How did you go about starting on youtube / finding your niche and voice?

When I first started out I wanted so badly to be a part of the “in” crowd on YouTube.  I wanted to be in the same realm as Jenn Im and Samantha Maria, but quickly realised how backwards that was. I was doing makeup videos here and there and haul videos because that’s what was popular on YouTube at the time.  Somewhere down the line I didn’t care about that stuff anymore.  I wanted to use my platform for good (touching on feminism, or veganism, or teaching, etc.) and I wanted to make whatever it was I thought was cool.

What is the main message you try to convey through your videos?

I just hope my videos inspire others to create things of their own.

What is you youtube career highlight so far?

Joining ipsy and getting to move out to LA to pursue this full-time :-)

What advice would you give someone wanting to take their youtube channel to the next level?

Keep making content that YOU like and are proud of, and be consistent. The followers will come - I promise!

What is next for LaMadelynn?

Short films!

When you're not making videos what are you up to?

You can probably me at a botanical garden taking photos of flowers haha

How do you find balance in life and juggling all the things you do?

Having a routine is SO important, especially when you’re working from home for the most part. I think it’s the only thing that really keeps me grounded with everything going on.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I wake up with Violet, jot down video ideas, maybe film something, make sure I eat, get myself up and out of the apartment before I go crazy, edit a little in the evening, catch up YouTube before bed or read, and that’s about it!

What keeps you up at night?

Thinking of all the things I need to get done - lame!

You are an army brat (so am I) how did you find growing up with that environment, how do you think its shaped you different to your parents?

I think moving around every few years has made me not only appreciate change, but more comfortable with it as well.

You have a lil fur baby, Violet, what is the biggest lesson you have learnt from her?

How to be a more responsible human! For example, I can never stay out too late, I make sure Violet has a routine of her own, I also make sure we’re getting outside as much as possible - little things like that!

Tell us about a moment in your week where you felt on top of the world, and the boss of your own life; a babe vibe moment?

It was my birthday this past week and I just felt so happy and content. I went out and bought myself a Japanese mug and drove around and did whatever I felt like doing. It was one of those self-love kind of days and I realized we should have those WAY more often!

Whats the best piece of advice you've received?

“Always assume positive intent."

What is your spirit animal?
